GALATA SEA MUSEUM

It’s the largest maritime museum in the Mediterranean, built in the building that once housed the Arsenal of the Republic of Genoa. The museum houses, in addition to a full-scale reproduction of a Genoese galley, several interactive rooms in which to understand what it meant, at different times, to go to sea and where you can relive the experience of the journey of our ancestors to America. The museum also exhibits a section dedicated to ocean liners with nautical charts and a storm simulation off Cape Horn.

Not to be missed is the submarine Nazario Sauro , the only one in Italy to be visited at sea. Launched in 1976, since 2009 it is moored in the dock and since 2010 it is part of the museum.
